Youth & Teens
We believe we have to be intentional in our time with teens. St. Monica utilizes a discipleship model centered around relational ministry to foster knowing the Lord Jesus and developing the habits necessary to live as followers of Christ. Youth in grades 7-12th meet on a weekly basis with programming that is designed to incorporate all aspects of discipleship. Teens spend time in prayer, fellowship, on-going intellectual study, and service.
middle school YOUTH
Meets Wednesday, 7-8:30 p.m. Youth are encouraged to be active in the church and community. We also ask them to continue to meet as a junior/senior class on Wednesday evenings for Bible Study—discussing the upcoming weekend's readings, applying the Scriptures to their lives, and learning about apologetics (how to defend their faith).
high school YOUTH
High school discipleship groups spend time in prayer, fellowship, on-going intellectual study, and service as they prepare for confirmation or continue to grow as disciples in post-confirmation formation.
Grade 10 or Confirmation II (and any non-confirmed 11-12 grade). Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year program. Confirmation II is a course on Catholic morals and ethics.
Post-confirmation groups focus on forming lasting friendships and prepare teens to own their faith as they move on to college and beyond.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) is for unbaptized children from 4th grade to about 15 years old. They are prepared for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. They join the Church at Easter Vigil.
